While selecting a domain name it’s beetles that you ensure it is easier to remember and spell, it should be small, and it should have the right extension.

Applying my domain name to my Odoo instance
For Setting the new domain name to our Odoo Instance, follow these steps.
- From the homepage access your Odoo.com account from the window as depicted in the following image.
- From the Odoo.com account go to the Manage Databases page.
- After that click on the settings icon right of the database and from the dropdown list select Domains you would like to redirect as depicted in the following screenshot.
By doing the above steps a database domain prompt will appear. Furthermore, here you can specify the domain name (e.g. www.mycompany.com), and press the Add button as shown in the below image.
Now we need to perform the following operations in your domain manager to apply the redirection from your domain name’s manager account:
- Create a CNAME record with the new domain name (www.yourdomain.com) pointing it to Odoo’s default domain name (mycompany24.odoo.com) so that we can redirect the new domain name to the existing domain.
- Moreover, if you are using the naked domain (e.g. yourdomain.com), you need to first redirect yourdomain.com to www.yourdomain.com.
