Odoo 18 has enhanced flexibility for sales management by allowing salespersons to be assigned to multiple sales teams. This feature is particularly useful for businesses with diverse sales structures, enabling sales professionals to handle multiple customer segments or product categories efficiently. This blog explores how to configure and manage multiple sales team assignments for salespersons in Odoo 18.
Sales teams in Odoo function as structured groups that manage sales operations for specific regions, products, or customer segments. Each team can have dedicated salespersons, managers, and predefined sales targets. By assigning salespersons to multiple teams, organizations can enhance collaboration, improve customer management, optimize resource allocation, and increase their overall sales effectiveness and market reach thus profiting the company.
To assign a salesperson to multiple sales teams first Multi Teams feature must be enabled. To do that navigate to CRM Module > Configuration > Settings.

Under the Odoo18 CRM section, the Multi Teams feature is available; enable that and make sure to Save the changes.

Once the feature is enabled, a salesperson can be assigned to multiple sales teams. So to check that, go to sales team; for that, navigate to the sales menu under which the Teams option is available.

The sales team canalso be accessed from the Configuration menu of the module.

Clicking on the Sales Team opens a new page displaying all pre-configured sales teams. Select a sales team to add a salesperson, or click the New button to create a new sales team.

When a sales team is selected, it opens up a detailed view of the team from where it is possible to add team members to the team. There are different configurations that can be set for the team, such as:
* Team Leader: You can assign a team leader to manage the team's activities.
* Email Alias: This creates a shared email address for the team, allowing all emails sent to this address to be automatically routed to all team members.
* Accept Emails From: You can specify whether the team should accept emails from Everyone, Authenticated Partners, Followers Only or Authenticated Employees.
* Invoicing Target: This field allows you to set a monthly invoicing target for the team. This can be used to track and measure team performance.
* Company: This field specifies the company associated with this sales team.
* Members: This section shows the members of the sales team.
To add members to the team, click on the Add button under the Members tab.

When the Add button is clicked, all the configured salespersons are listed in the pop-up and a new salesperson can also be created by clicking on the New button. Add the desired salesperson to the sales team by checking the box right next to the salesperson and then clicking on the Select button.

So under the Members tab, the selected salesperson can be seen.

Now select another sales team. For that, navigate back to the Sales Teams and select a team. Click on the Add button under the Members tab of that sales team and add the salesperson.

So for the ‘Pre-Sales’ sales team, two salespeople have been added.

And here, it can be seen that Marc Demo belongs to both the sales team, which shows that a salesperson can be added to multiple sales teams. This has been possible since the feature Multi Teams has been enabled; otherwise, when a salesperson who already belongs to a sales team is added to another sales team, that salesperson will be removed from the first team and added to the sales team to which he is currently being added.
To remove a salesperson from the team, simply click on the salesperson and a pop-up appears that provides the details of the salesperson, such as the email address, phone, company, etc. And to remove the salesperson from the team, click on the Remove button, and the salesperson will be removed from the team.

Assigning salespersons to multiple teams offers several advantages, including improved resource utilization by enabling them to contribute to various customer segments without limitations. This leads to the efficient allocation of skilled professionals across diverse sales areas, fostering enhanced collaboration and knowledge sharing among teams. Furthermore, it empowers salespersons to cater to different customer needs, leading to better customer management and improved communication. By exposing salespersons to multiple teams, cross-selling and upselling opportunities can be increased, ultimately driving more leads into successful deals.
Odoo 18 provides an efficient way to assign salespersons to multiple sales teams, enabling businesses to optimize their sales force and improve collaboration. By carefully configuring teams and defining clear responsibilities, organizations can leverage this feature to drive better sales performance and customer engagement. Proper monitoring and performance tracking further ensure that sales efforts remain aligned with business goals, leading to increased revenue and productivity.
