Therefore, the Odoo16 maintenance module aids the business in carrying out proper maintenance on a variety of equipment.

The Odoo16 maintenance module offers two alternative types of maintenance processes. Corrective maintenance is the first, it is a proactive approach to repairing the equipment to restore performance and prevent further damage or interruption when an unexpected failure or breakdown occurs. Preventive maintenance is the second. It enhances performance while also extending the life of equipment. Preventive maintenance will automatically take place.

Let's examine how these two categories of maintenance took place. First, make a fresh item of equipment using the maintenance module.

Select the Machines & Tools option under the equipment category to do it.

Then develop a new machinery. Add the category and name of the equipment. Company name may be added. Names of the Maintenance Team and Technicians may be mentioned there. In the Owner area, users can specify the name of the employee to whom the equipment is allocated, and in the allocated Date field, users can specify the date on which the employee received the equipment. This window can provide information on the equipment's scrap date, usage location, and work center. The Description tab allows for the addition of a description of the equipment.

Product Information is the second tab. Here, details on the equipment are provided. This tab contains information on the equipment supplier, including Vendor Name, Vendor Reference, Equipment Model, and Equipment Serial Number. The date that a date becomes effective is known as the Effective Date. To determine the Mean Time Between Failure (MTBF), this date is used. Included in this part are the equipment's price and expiration date. Here, the equipment's effective date is set to June 1, 2023. There, users can also set the equipment's price and warranty expiration date.

The Maintenance tab comes next. Users can choose the Preventive Maintenance Frequency in days. The Next Preventive Maintenance date will be changed based on this frequency. Here, a frequency of 35 days has been established, meaning that the following preventive maintenance request will be generated automatically 35 days after the effective date. So, on July 7, 2023, the Next Preventive Maintenance was updated.

Next is ‘Expected Mean Time Between Failure’, which can be added in days here which is added as 30 days.

* Preventive Maintenance

Equipment failure can be avoided by preventive maintenance. It enhances performance while also extending the life of equipment. On the basis of the given frequency and the frequency added when the equipment was created, preventive maintenance will automatically take place.

Here in the Maintenance tab of equipment, the Next preventive maintenance date is updated as 6th July 2023.

Therefore, on July 6, 2023, a Preventive Maintenance Request will automatically be made. Examine the maintenance requests first. Select Maintenance Requests from the Maintenance menu to do that.

A Preventive Maintenance Request for the equipment will be created automatically inside the request. Here, the equipment owner creates a request that is stored inside the system.

Activate the request. This demonstrates that the request is for the Laptop's preventive maintenance. All information, including the equipment, category, requested date, maintenance team, responsible individual, scheduled date, duration, and so on, is filled in automatically.

Here, the maintenance type is Preventive Maintenance. Change the stage to complete the request.

Return to the created equipment once more and select the Maintenance tab. The system will automatically update the next preventive maintenance date after completing the preventive maintenance request. Which is planned 35 days following the most recent preventative maintenance.

* Corrective Maintenance

Corrective maintenance is a proactive approach to repairing the equipment to restore performance and prevent further damage or interruption when an unexpected failure or breakdown occurs. Therefore, users apply corrective maintenance to such unexpected failures.

Create a new Maintenance request to add a corrective maintenance.

Insert the Request. The category will automatically adjust based on the equipment users select. Corrective maintenance should be chosen as the maintenance type. It is possible to establish a Schedule Date, Time, and Duration for the maintenance.

Transfer the request's status from New Request to Repaired Request. Both the maintenance and the Request have now been fulfilled.

Check the equipment after completing the maintenance request. The outcome of corrective maintenance is displayed on the maintenance tab. 

The user has entered a 30-day ‘Expected Mean Time Between Failure’ in this case. nonetheless, the system will automatically update the ‘Mean Time Between Failure’. The equipment will go into effect on June 1st, 2023. Therefore, the Mean Time Between Failure (MTBF) is the number of days between the effective date and the most recent failure. On July 6th, this failure was the most recent. MTBF is thus 35 days.

Based on the most recent failure date and MTBF, the system calculates the Estimated next failure. This indicates that the Estimated next failure date is the ‘Latest failure Date + MTBF’. August 10th is thus here, 35 days after June 1st. The mean time for repairs is the length of time spent on maintenance. This has two maintenance requests, that are updated.
