The success of a business depends on how the business learns from previous experiences, adapts to changes, and improves for the better. The success rate of a company also is dependent on the performance standards of the employees of that company. Apart from how well the employees perform or how well the company operates, the company has to frequently review the performance and find out strategies to improve their employees and business standards. This improvement can be achieved only with the support of a proper monitoring and review system.
Review and analysis of the performance are more significant when we are talking about project management. Project management is something that different types of industries will have to take up. While a manufacturing industry may have to manage different manufacturing projects, a service industry may have to handle service-based projects and a product-based industry will have to complete product-based projects.
It is to handle the requirement for an efficient project review and reporting system that Odoo has developed an efficient Project report generation system along with Odoo Project Module. The Odoo Project module supports different types of operations including Project creation and management, task creation and management, sub-task management, etc. Another key functionality of Odoo Projects is Reporting. The reporting feature of Odoo has been designed to help the business to analyze the project and the progress of the work. It will also support the users to review the overall performance of the company, analyze tasks and manage timesheets and analyze planning. It can also support the business to prepare reports on project cost and revenue.
This blog will help us identify the different ways in which Odoo Project Reporting will extend our support to our business to improve performance.
To generate a report we have to first install the project module of Odoo from the App store. Then we have to create projects and tasks. Once the employees start working on projects we can start our reporting process also.
We have a separate menu named Reporting to ease reporting operations. When we click on this option we get three options- Tasks Analysis, Timesheet and Planning Analysis, Project Costs and Revenues.
First, we have to examine Task Analysis
Task Analysis
Clicking on Task Analysis feature we will be taken to the Task Analysis page.

With Odoo Projects we can generate task analysis reports in the graphic as well as pivot mode. Below given is the pivot view.
We can check what we can review from here.
Measures
Here we can find different measures. That means, we can create reports based on these different measures. In the above picture, I have enabled only one measure and that is the task. In the same way, we can generate reports based on other measures also.
Next to Measures we can find different types of graphs. On selecting these graphs we will be able to find different types of graphic views of task analysis. Here is the pie chart.
Filters
Like measures, we can use the filter option to filter our analysis. Here we have different filter options like unassigned, deadline-based filters, assignment date-based filters, and last stage update-based filters. Moreover, we can add a custom filter.
Here the deadline can be selected for a particular month, a particular quarter, or year. Assignment date-based filter and Last Stage update-based filter can also be managed the same way.
Custom Filter
On clicking the option we get a field to customize the filters. Here we can add conditions to make the report more specific.
Group By
Group by option helps us to create different groups and analyze tasks. Here we can group by Projects, Assigned to, and Stage. We can use custom group features also here.
This option enables us to make some required changes. It will help to save the current search and add the search result to Google spreadsheet.
Now we can have a glance at the graph
Here we can find that the performance of two employees has been analyzed based on their tasks. The employees OdooBot and Mitchell Admin managed the tasks internal and undefined respectively.
Timesheet and Planning Analysis
We can analyze Timesheet and Planning also the same way as we did the task analysis. The difference is we will be analyzing the project based on the timesheet here.

We can choose measures like Difference and Planned hours here. We can also choose the Number of Hours and effective hours.
We can get line charts, pie charts, and bar charts of the analysis here also. Besides, we can generate pivot views of the analysis.
Here we can group the analysis by employee, Task, Project and Date. Custom group support is available here also.

For Timesheet Analysis filter is possible only based on date
Project Cost and Revenues
This is the third type of Analysis that can be made with the Odoo Project module.
As in the Other two analyses, we can have a pivot and graphic view of the report here. While the above given is the graphic view the below given is the pivot view.

Bar Chart
Measures
Project cost and revenue reports will help us to cost and revenue for different periods of time. The report will use the untaxed amount to invoice, the untaxed amount invoiced, timesheet cost and timesheet duration, other costs, other revenues, untaxed amount re-invoiced, and untaxed amount to re-invoice as the measures to prepare the report.
While the pivot view can include all the measures on the same page, the graphic view will have different measures for different graphs.
Filter
We can filter the report and generate a separate reports for my projects and add custom filters.
Group by
Here we have different options to Group by.
We can group by Project, Project Manager, Customer, Company, Date, etc. We can find all groups in the same graph if required.
