Settings

We'll review each of the sections that comprise the Settings section of the Odoo 18 website module.

As mentioned before, the Settings of Website option can be used to configure and manage a website. Languages, Homepage URL, Domain, Company, and Favicon fields are visible when you enter the Website Info section.

This option is followed by Shop-Payment, where options such as Activate Payments and Authorize.net: Payment Capture Method are available.

The Authorize.net:Payment Capture Method allows you to choose between instant and delayed payment capture for Authorize.net payments. If customers decide to conduct additional fraud checks or make other changes to the order before money is collected, they should be informed of this setting.

The following part explains how you set up Twitter API access, which includes Twitter Roller, email marketing, live chat, and sending emails to abandoned checkouts automatically.

If you use Odoo 18 to develop your website, Live Chat will be added to your database after it is deployed. Go to Website > Configuration > Settings > Live Chat to finish the process. Next, choose a channel to link to your website, or create one yourself.

Operators: Assign agents to reply to chat requests in messages. You can add as many as you wish, but keep in mind that an operator is deemed disconnected if they are inactive in Odoo for longer than thirty minutes.

Guidelines for the Channel: Select a response for a certain URL and/or nation. In the example below, the chat window automatically appears after the designated period of time when users (from any nation) arrive on the contact us page.

For Elevated access, go to https://developer.twitter.com/en/portal/products. Click Apply after choosing Elevated, then complete the form.

A list of every website that has been created may be viewed under the Websites page. The Websites option is included in the Configuration menu. Here, the website name, domain name, business name, theme, and default language are all shown in the list view. To add a new one, click the New button.

On selecting a particular one, you will have the page with the following details.

Specify the Website Name and Website domain. Each website must be published under its own domain. Adapt the Company name, Languages and Default language if needed. You are also provided with custom code and product page extra field options. It is possible to add extra fields on the product page using the option.

Redirect

Content on web pages can be rewritten or redirected using the Redirect option found in the Configuration menu. Pre-configured redirect rules contain data like action, name, URL from and to, and website. To add a new one, click the New button.

First, add the name of the redirection rule. The Action item can then be chosen from the list. The list consists of four options. Users are free to choose the best course of action based on their needs.

301 Moved Permanently: The browser's cache will still have the updated URL.

302 Temporarily Moved: Rather than saving the new URL in its cache, the browser will request it again the next time it is accessed.

404 Not Found: If you want to remove a certain page or controller, use 404 Not Found.

308 Redirect/Rewrite: If you want to use a different URL to rename the controller

The URL From and URL To can be provided after choosing the action. After that, you can include other details like the name of the website and sequence number.

Menus

The addition of a new menu from the front end of the website has already been discussed here. The back end also allows for the creation, editing, and viewing of the website menus. To do this, select the Menus option from the Configuration menu.

This list allows you to view all of the menus from numerous websites simultaneously. The name, URL, and presence or absence of a mega menu on the website. The parent menu and the new window are the details shown in the list. To add new content, click the New button.

Chat Room

Users can view every detail of the chat rooms they have created on the website from the back end. Choose the Chat Room option under the Configuration tab. There, you can check the room's name, full name, language, number of attendees, and maximum capacity. To add a new chat room, click the New button.

Blog

Content on web pages can be rewritten or redirected using the Redirect option found in the Configuration menu. Pre-configured redirect rules contain data like action, name, URL from and to, and website. To add a new one, click the New button.

To view and add blogs, use the Blogs option. One will then see the name of the blog, the website, and the number of entries. To add a new blog, click the New button.

In the creation form, include the name, subtitle, and URL of the blog.

Along with relevant information like tag name, category, and articles, all of the platform's specified blog tags will be displayed here.

The system will show a new form view when you click the New button with your mouse to create a new one.

Likewise, the user has the option to specify the category of their Tags.

Forum

Additional choices such as Forum, Ranks, Tags, Badges, and Close Reasons were incorporated in the Configuration's forum area.

The user can choose the "Forum" option from the Configuration menu of the website module to create a new forum, as shown below.

In addition to selecting the website on which the forum should be published, the user may also choose the forum's name and select between question and discussion styles. In the Forum form view, we also have pages like Option, Karma Gains, and Karma Related Rights.

On the Options tab, you may adjust the Privacy and Default Sort settings. You can select a default sorting method in the Default Sort box. It may be the Newest, Relevant, Answered, or Most Voted. In the Privacy area, you can modify the forum's privacy settings. If you want the forum to be accessible to the general public, select the Public option. "Signed In" indicates that access to the forum will be restricted to those who have signed in.

The Karma Gains option allows you to assign participants different karma points. By participating in the aforementioned activities, players can earn the stated points.

People can obtain specific rights by earning karma points. You can set this right under the Karma Related Rights tab. This tab lists the rights that a user can obtain by accumulating the designated number of karma points.

The Configuration menu of the Odoo 18 Website module, which the user can reach from within the forum, allows for the establishment of various rankings for forum participants. As shown below, you can view the specifics of each configured ranking on this platform. How far you can advance in the ranks depends on your karma points.

Enter the Required Karma and Rank Name in the appropriate fields to achieve the desired rank. You can also add a description for the rating in the platform's additional box.

User-generated tags can be created in the forum.

Visitors to the website would find it easy to organize forum postings based on their preferences. It can be enabled from the website module setup, as shown below.

Badges is the next option under Forum, and it may be activated by configuring the website module. Odoo 18 comes with a specific platform for creating and managing badges for visitors to your website who view the forum posts. Users can earn badges by participating in the various activities you offer on your forum by setting up specific configurations. These badges are offered as incentives for completing the activities on your website.

You can refer to the Badge and upload a photo of it in the appropriate fields. In the Badge Description field that will show up, you may provide a description of the new badge. Through the Granting, Rewards for Challenges, and Statistics sections, you can specify badge rules and provide further information in the box below.

You can designate who is qualified to award this badge using the choices in the Allowance to Grant section. The “Monthly Limited Sending” option specifies a monthly restriction per person for sending this badge. You will notice an additional space where you must select the limit after you enable this option.

You can enter the prizes for the tasks in the Reward for Challenges section by choosing the 'Add' option. Clicking the 'Add' button will bring up the pop-up window shown below.

In the Statistics section of the badge creation box, you can see the Total, Monthly Total, Number of Users, My Total, and My Monthly Total, which will be updated automatically.

Once the required fields have been filled out, click 'Save' to save the revised badge. You can award participants with this badge by selecting the Grant this Badge option during the chat.

The next Forum option is Close Reason, which may be activated from the website module setup.

You can remove forum postings from your website by using this option.
