In Odoo 18’s Project module, converting tasks into subtasks is a seamless process that enhances project organization and management. This feature allows you to break down complex tasks into smaller, more manageable components, making it easier to track progress and assign responsibilities. To convert a task into a subtask, start by opening the desired project and navigating to the Tasks section. Once you have located the specific task you wish to convert, click on it to open its details.
At the top left corner of the task form, you will find the Gear Icon. Clicking this icon reveals a dropdown menu that includes various task management options. From this menu, select the Convert to Subtask option.
A prompt will then appear, prompting you to assign the task to a parent task, effectively transforming it into a subtask.
After completing this step, the task will be nested under the chosen parent task, thereby creating a clear hierarchy within your project.
This conversion not only aids in better organization but also facilitates efficient tracking of smaller task components, allowing for improved oversight and management of larger projects.
The "Share Task" option in the action button of a project task allows users to share tasks easily with others.
Click the Action button at the top of the task form and select the Share Task option from the dropdown menu.
A pop-up window will appear, where the task’s URL is automatically generated. You can add recipients by selecting users or contacts, and optionally include a note to provide context or additional instructions. Once you’ve filled in the necessary details, click the Send button. The recipients will receive an email with the task link and your note, facilitating better collaboration and communication within the project.
Version History
In Odoo 18, the Version History feature in the Project module provides users with the ability to track and manage changes made to project task descriptions. This feature is particularly useful for maintaining an accurate record of modifications, allowing users to see who made a change when it was made, and what the previous version of the task description was.
To use the Version History feature, users simply need to open the task within the Project module and click on the Action button in the task view. From the dropdown menu, they can select Version History, which will display a list of all changes made to the task description.
Each entry will show the date and user responsible for the modification. If necessary, users can restore the task description to any previous version by selecting the desired change and clicking Restore History.
Add Properties
When you click Add Properties, a set of fields or options will appear that enable you to specify the additional properties you want to associate with the task. For example, this could include adding custom fields like task urgency, special notes, or other criteria that are important for your workflow.
This feature helps in managing tasks more effectively by allowing you to customize the task details according to your project's unique requirements, providing better tracking, reporting, and decision-making insights.
To use this feature, click on the gear icon (⚙) and select the "Add Properties" option in the project task window. From there, you can select the appropriate field type, such as text, numeric values, dates, or selection options, depending on your requirements. If needed, you can also set a default value for the field to ensure consistency across tasks.
Additionally, to make the custom field visible in the Card view, check the "View in Cards" box. This enables the property to be easily accessed and managed in the Kanban layout. Once you've configured the property, click anywhere outside the property creation window to save and close the settings.
This feature provides greater flexibility in organizing project tasks, allowing you to tailor task information to meet the specific needs of your projects.
