Mailings

When you first open the Email Marketing module in Odoo 18, the Mailings menu page is displayed. This page provides a comprehensive overview of your email campaigns, showcasing key details such as the date, subject, and accountable party for each email.

It also includes metrics like sent, delivered, opened, clicked, and replied, as well as statuses, giving users a clear picture of their campaign performance. The interface is organized with pre-made mailings and offers multiple viewing options, including graphical, list, calendar, and Kanban views. To start a new mailing, simply click on the New icon.

On the mailing creation page, you can begin by entering a subject for your email. The recipient list can be specified using the drop-down menu, which offers various options, including the ability to send the email to all contacts via the Contacts option. Alternatively, you can create a custom mailing list through the Mailing List form available in the main menu. For the content, you can define the mail body under the Mail Body tab by selecting or customizing a template to suit your requirements.

In Odoo Email Marketing, customizing the mail body can be done effectively using the drag-and-drop editor available under the Mail Body tab.

Within the Mail Body tab, you'll find a range of pre-designed content blocks such as Headers, Body, Marketing Content, Inner Content, and Footers. These blocks can be dragged and placed into the desired sections of your email. Once added, each block can be customized to suit your needs. For example, you can format text with bold or italic styles, change font size and color, upload or select images, and style buttons with custom text and links. The layout can also be rearranged by dragging blocks into different positions. Before finalizing, preview the email to check its appearance across devices and send a test email to ensure the content is displayed as intended.

Once your email design is complete, Odoo allows you to save it as a reusable template. To do this, simply use the Add to Templates option, usually found at the top of the page, as shown in the image below.

When creating future email campaigns, you can quickly access your saved templates by selecting the Templates option in the Mail Body tab.

From here, choose your preferred design and customize it further if needed, without altering the original template.

The module also supports A/B Testing, a feature accessible via the A/B Test tab. This functionality allows you to compare two different versions of your email to determine which one yields better results. For instance, if the A/B Test is set to 10%, two different versions of the email can be sent to 10% of the recipients each. By selecting specific criteria, such as the highest click-through rate, the module automatically determines the winning version. This version is then sent to the remaining recipients, ensuring optimal performance. The final transmission date for the winning version can be specified in the Send Final On field.

Under the Settings option, you can configure additional details for your email. These include Preview Text, which appears as a short, attention-grabbing statement when the email is opened. If no preview text is provided, the email’s first few characters will be used by default. You can also define the Send From and Reply To fields, assign an accountable officer, and attach files to the email for additional context or resources. These settings ensure a personalized and professional touch for each email.

Once your email is ready, you can choose from three options: Send, Schedule, or Test. Selecting Send allows you to deliver the email immediately to all recipients.

If you choose to Schedule, a new page will appear, enabling you to set a specific date and time for delivery.

After scheduling, the email's status will show as a draft until it is automatically sent on the designated date and time.

To verify the email’s content before sending, you can use the Test option, which provides a preview of the email as it will appear to recipients. The Add to Template option in the Odoo 18 Email Marketing creation window allows users to save their email design as a reusable template. This feature is particularly useful for businesses that frequently send emails with similar layouts or branding elements, as it eliminates the need to recreate designs from scratch for future campaigns.

After sending an email, you can monitor its performance through detailed status metrics such as the percentages for recipients who received, opened, clicked, replied, bounced, or ignored the email. These metrics are accessible via the Kanban View, which provides a user-friendly summary of each email's status. Additionally, you can use the Group By and Filters options to customize the view and easily locate specific emails.

The Odoo 18 Email Marketing module thus offers a robust platform for creating, testing, and analyzing email campaigns, ensuring businesses can engage effectively with their audiences and achieve their marketing goals.
