Odoo 18 allows you to collect leads from multiple sources and track which ones qualify as opportunities. The CRM module also helps generate new leads that can potentially become opportunities based on the business needs. To enable lead management, go to the Configuration tab in the Settings menu and activate the Leads option.
Once activated, a new Leads menu will appear on the main menu. This tab displays lead information such as the name of the Lead, City, Country, Assigned Partner, Salesperson, and Sales Team.
After choosing some leads, click on the ‘Actions’ menu to Export, Archive, Unarchive, Delete, and Duplicate the lead data as per the requirements. Then, Odoo also provides the ‘Mark Lost,’ ‘Convert to opportunities,’ ‘Merge,’ ‘Send email,’ ‘Send SMS,’ ‘Forward to partner,’ and ‘Enrich’ the leads quickly without opening the individual lead configuration forms. The ‘Generate Leads’ button can also be used to generate the required leads from the quotations.
Clicking on a lead preview opens its detailed form. In Odoo 18, you can directly make a lead into opportunities by opening the form view and clicking on the ‘Convert to Opportunity’ button. To mark it as a lost lead, click on the ‘Lost’ button.
To create a new lead, click the Create button. Enter key details such as the lead's name, probability (the likelihood of converting into an opportunity), company, contact information, salesperson, sales team, and tags. Additional tabs, like Internal Notes, Extra Info, and Assigned Partner, allow you to add more details.
Creating a New Opportunity from a Lead
In Odoo, you can quickly convert a lead into an opportunity. When you click Convert to Opportunity, a pop-up window appears where you can either convert the lead into a new opportunity or merge it with an existing one. You can assign the opportunity to a sales representative and team.
In the Customer section, you have three options such as
● Create a new customer (add the lead as a new customer),
● Link to an existing customer (select from a drop-down of existing clients), or
● Do not link to a customer.
After selecting the relevant details, click Create Opportunity. Once converted, the opportunity will appear in the Pipeline window under the Sales tab. This view organizes opportunities into stages like New, Proposal, Qualified, and Won. You can easily add new stages or move opportunities by dragging and dropping them into different stages.
