Locations
The Odoo Inventory module's Locations platform allows users to configure the locations inside the warehouses where products are intended to be stocked. You can set up different locations for your stocks within the same warehouse with this platform. To enable this functionality, first navigate to the module's Settings menu and select the Storage Locations option from the Warehouse tab, as seen below.
As soon as you enable this option, the Configuration menu's related submenu will appear.
The list view displays information about the Location, Location Type, Storage Category, and Company, as seen in the image above. To set up a new location in the Inventory module, use the New button.
This is the new location creation window's form view. Give the place a name in the Location Name field and enter Parent Location in the designated area. You can choose an appropriate site Type for this site in the Additional Information tab. The following is a list of the possible location kinds.
● Vendor location: This type of virtual site serves as the source for products that are purchased directly from suppliers.
● View: Your warehouse, which is unable to hold things directly, can be organized hierarchically using this virtual location.
● Internal Location: These are the real, reachable places within your warehouse.
● Customer Location: This is an additional virtual location where things supplied to customers are thought to arrive.
● Inventory Loss: To balance stock levels, inventory procedures are mirrored in this virtual place.
● Production: This is the virtual counterpart site where production processes are carried out. You can make completed goods by using components that are obtained from this place.
● Transit site: In intercompany or inter-warehouse operations, the Transit Location serves as a counterpart site.
In the corresponding fields, indicate the location's Storage Category and Company. You can designate this location as a scrap and damaged product storage area by checking the Is a Scrap Location box. You can switch on the Is a Return Location feature if you would like to use this location to store returned goods. Select the Replenish Location option in order to refill all quantities at this specific location.
You can adjust the Inventory Frequency on the Cyclic Counting tab. The inventory count date for the products kept at this location will be automatically set at the specified frequency if the difference is greater than zero. The Last Effective Inventory field will display the date of the most recent inventory at this site. In the Next Expected Inventory field, the date of the upcoming scheduled inventory based on the cyclic schedule will be displayed.
The Logistics tab contains the definition of the Removal Strategy for this location. It will specify the standard procedure for suggesting the precise place to pick up the products, the lot, etc., for this particular location. If no parent locations are specified here, a fallback is applied at the product category level, where this technique can be enforced. The removal techniques that are available are,
● FIFO: The first-stocked products/lots will be the first to be removed.
● LIFO: The last-stocked products/lots will be emptied first.
● FEFO: The items/lots that are closest to their removal date will be removed first.
● Closest Location: Lots and products nearest to the desired location will be removed first.
● Least Packaging: Goods may be tacked onto packages. Thus, the little package will be taken out of stock first.
The Putaway Rules and Stocks for this location will be displayed via the smart buttons on the location pane.
