Payments
In the Orders menu of the PoS module, you can find the Payments option, where Odoo records the history of all payments from different orders. The payments can be grouped based on payment methods and sessions. Here, the list view shows the Date, Payment Method, Order, and Amount.
In a PoS session, you can offer different payment methods for the customers to make payments according to their convenience. For configuring such payment methods, you can go to the Configuration menu of the Point of Sale module and select the Payment Methods option.
Here, you will get a list view of the already configured Payment Methods with the details of the Method, Journal, and Company. To make any changes in the available payment methods, you can click on them and make the necessary changes.
In order to create a new one, use the Create button.
In the Method field, you can add the name of the payment method that will be shown in the Point of Sale when the payments are selected. Activating the Identify Customer field forces to set a customer when using this payment method and splits the journal entries for each customer. In the Journal field, define the journal where to record the collected payments after closing the session. For a cash journal, Odoo directly writes to the default account in the journal via statement lines. For a bank journal, Odoo writes to the outstanding account specified in this payment method. Here, only bank and cash journals are allowed. You can leave the field empty to use the receivable account of the customer. You can mention the Intermediary Account in the given space which overrides the company’s receivable account used in the journal entries. You are allowed to leave this field blank to use the default account from the company setting.
Once you complete the configuration process, the new payment method will be added to the available list of payment methods in PoS.
