Delivery
Odoo also embraces a greater power to handle the delivery aspects of the company with the assistance of various advanced tools and also allows you to implement additional support functions. The delivery of the product which is purchased by the customers is configured based upon various shipping methods being defined in the system. Delivering the purchased products to the customers at the right time using the right method is one of the most important aspects to retain the reputation of your organization. Odoo system always helps you to manage your deliveries in a perfect manner. The platform enables you to deliver the purchased products either directly by the organization or it also supports third party service providers such as DHL, FedEx, UPS and many more.
Shipping Methods
The Odoo system manages the delivery of the products with the help of various shipping methods. So the platform will support different shipping methods and you have the provision to create and configure each of them. The Shipping methods window in the Odoo system can be enabled by activating the Shipping methods option available in the Settings window of the Odoo Inventory module.
When you enabled the Shipping Methods option from the Settings. You will be able to view and access the Shipping Methods menu in the Configuration tab of the Odoo Inventory module.
You can select the Shipping Methods menu for viewing the Shipping Methods window. The image of the Shipping Methods window is depicted below.
This Shipping Methods window will list out all the existing Shipping Methods along with the Delivery Method, Provider, Is Published, Website, Company and Countries. The window includes various default as well as customizable sorting functionalities such as Filters, Group By, Favourite, and Search options which will allow you to sort out or regroup shipping methods in various measures. You can create a new Shipping Method using the CREATE button available. On selecting the CREATE button, you can enter into the Shipping Methods creation form. The image of the creation window is depicted below.
You can fill the creation form with the details such as Name of the Shipping Method, Provider. The Provider can be defined based on Fixed Price or Based on Rules. Moreover, you can install more providers based upon your company requirements. If it is set up based on rules, the rules can be described in the pricing window. When we come with the case of Fixed price, it can be described under the Provider tab. After setting up the Provider, you can mention the Company and Website if it operates with multiple company bases. Then you can allocate the Delivery Product details along with the Margin on Rate. Margin on Rate can be provided in percentage and this percentage will be added to the shipping price. Furthermore, if you are planning to offer free delivery over a fixed amount you can mention it in the creation form by enabling the option ‘Free if order amount is above’ and you can also enlist the respective amount in terms of company currencies. Under the Pricing tab, you can describe the Pricing details based upon the Provider specified. The destination availability details such as Countries, States, Zip From, Zip To can be defined under the Destination Availability tab.
In addition, a description of the product that you want to communicate to your customers can be described under the Description tab. This description will be copied to every Sales Order, Delivery Order, and Customer Invoice or Credit Note.
If the price varies in accordance with the rule, you can prefer the Based on Rules option. Now you should add pricing rules under the Pricing tab available. You can use the Add a line option to create a pricing rule.
When you click on the Add a line option, you will be able to view a pop up window where you can fill in all the details.
This pop up window helps you to select a condition based on either the weight, volume, price or quantity. The delivery cost can also be applied. You are also able to limit the delivery method to quite a few destinations. This can be applied under the Destination Availability tab. You will be able to set limits to a few Countries, State, or even Zip codes.
As we are clear on the Shipping Methods menu available on the platform. Odoo also enables you to integrate with external shippers for helping you to compute the real price and packaging and many more.
