Connect IoT box to a network
The Odoo IoT Box is a Raspberry Pi-based device that is used to connect different external devices such as printers, scanners, etc. We can connect these devices using WiFi or Ethernet cable to the IoT Box, which itself is connected to Odoo ERP. Connecting IoT Box with the network is a crucial initial step for error-free workflow.
First, install the Internet of Things module.
The IoT app will be available on the homepage. Open the app to see the available IoT Boxes in the system.
For connecting a new IoT box, there are two methods either using Ethernet or WiFi. Initially, connect all the devices to the IoT box and power it on.
In the case of an Ethernet connection, we can connect the IoT box using a pairing code which can be read from a screen or the receipt printer connected to the IoT box.
Enter this pairing code in the popup after clicking on the ‘Connect’ button from the IoT module dashboard.
The first steps are the same for the WiFi connection also. Before we power on the box, we have to connect the devices to the IoT box. Copy the token when we click on the ‘Connect’ button.
Make sure there is no Ethernet cable connected to the computer and connect to the IoT box WiFi Network.
We will be redirected to the IoT Box homepage. If not, we can just connect to the IP Address of the box. Paste the token in the ‘server token’ field and provide a name for the IoT box for identification.
The new IoT box will be listed in the IoT application.
