Product Management

A product-based company's business operations depend heavily on product management. You will have total control over the products being specified with the features of a dedicated management tool. All of the items and services your business offers can be defined using Odoo product management. All of the products defined in your company's operations can be viewed in the Accounting module's Products menu, which can be reached through the Customer menu.

Under the Products menu, you will find options for filtering and grouping that will help you find the product from the list of ones that are defined there. The Products menu can be viewed in List view, Kanban view, and Activity view, the last of which is particularly useful thanks to the image and a brief product description that provide all the details you require.

You will be able to update the product details that are listed under each of the products and add new ones by utilizing the Create option that is offered in the menu. When you choose to create a new product, a window will appear asking you for information such as the product's name and assign it as Can be Sold, or Can be Purchase. By choosing the image icon and a picture from your computer, you may also describe the appearance of the product. Let's move on to the next stage of product configurations, where we will detail the elements of how it can be specified in operation, now that the fundamental aspects of the product have been described.

You must first set up the general information sections. Here, you can choose whether the product type is a consumable, a service, or a storable product whose inventory should be maintained with the aid of the platform's own Inventory management module. Products classified as consumables are those that can be consumed or are perishable in a short amount of time, primarily food goods and other perishables with a limited shelf life.

The products with a longer expiration date and a lower likelihood of damage are those that are storable. Additionally, this category includes all non-consumable goods. The things that can be given to the customer as a service depending on their needs but are not physically available are known as service-based products.

The Product will be able to define inventory if it is solely a consumable product. Additionally, the product category can be defined and chosen from the drop-down menu. You can configure the Extra Prices after we've defined the Sales Price of the product. By choosing it from the dropdown menu, you can also define the Customer Taxes and the TaxCloud Category. Additionally, you can define any Internal Notes that need to be defined for the particular product.

Additionally, all of the product variants in the company's activities can be defined under the Variants tab. You can choose the "Add a line" option and specify the variant's attributes as well as its values. As seen in the accompanying screenshot, a smart button will display the number of available variants. For a single product, you can add as many variants as you need, and they will all be presented under the same product description.

Under the Purchase tab of the product description menu, the purchase information specifics, such as the vendor bills management aspects, can be adjusted. The vendor taxes that are associated with the product and are specified by the vendor are defined here. This area can be used to define several taxes for operations at a given instance.

The Accounting tab of the product description window allows you to define the Accounting information pertaining to the product. The drop-down box allows you to choose one of the receivable aspects, such as the Income Account, in this case. The Expense Account can be defined for the Payable aspects in the same way.

The Email Template can be provided under the section automatic email at invoice, which will send a product-specific email to the customer once the invoice is validated.

You will be taken to the Product Variants menu as shown in the following screenshot, after selecting one of the Variants options in the Product creation description box. Internal Reference Information, Name, Attribute Values, Sales Price, and Cost will all be defined here. You can also filter out the necessary Product Variants by using the Filtering and Group by options that are available.

Additionally, as was already noted, the Products tab allows you to define products that are also Services. For instance, hotel accommodations are one of the services offered by a hotel and have been classified as a product. If your hotel offers different rooms and packages for each product list, you can define each one as a different product or under one of its variants. To enable it to function as a service-based product, the Product Type is additionally defined as service. The service-based product's other features are identical to those of the consumable-based one.

The financial management parts of the product will serve as the foundation for the product management aspects of the Odoo Accounting module.
