Types of Maintenance Management

The Odoo maintenance module provides two types of maintenance management as

1. Preventive Maintenance
2. Corrective Maintenance

Preventive Maintenance

Preventive maintenance is routine maintenance that is performed in advance to avoid breakdowns in heavy machinery, vehicles, electronic equipment, and other assets. The primary goal of maintenance is to prevent or lessen the effects of equipment failures in order to ensure its proper operation and dependability. Contrary to corrective maintenance, which fixes or restores damaged or non-functioning equipment, preventive maintenance is performed on machinery that is still in good working order.

Corrective maintenance

The most fundamental type of maintenance is called "Corrective Maintenance" or "Non-routine," and it entails finding faults or defects and fixing them. Corrective maintenance addresses defects that have been noticed in equipment or facilities. The main aspect of corrective maintenance is repairing and correcting the issue.
This maintenance, which is performed when a failure or breakdown occurs in equipment that by its nature cannot be planned ahead of time, presents costs for repair and spare parts that were not budgeted since it may necessitate the replacement of some pieces of equipment, which is very common in cases of wear of the same in computer equipment.
