New Features in Odoo 18

General

  • ALT+SHIFT+U can be used as a shortcut for switching companies.
  • The importing of the records can be done by dragging and dropping.
  • The Gantt view supports unlimited horizontal scrolling.
  • Contacts can be searched by their address
  • To enable the developer mode, type ?debug=1 at the end of the link.
  • Click the magnifying glass icon in the search bar to restart the search.

Sales

  • Sales Commission Plan: The sales commission plan feature is added in the settings of the sales module. When it is enabled, a new menu is added to the sales module called Commissions. From there, different commission plans based on Targets and Achievements can be created and managed.
  • Product types: It is cut down to just Goods, Services, and Combo.
  • Quotations can be inserted into the spreadsheet.
  • There is a feature called quote calculator, which helps to calculate different costs related to the quotations based on pre-defined formulas.
  • A free text option is added for the attribute value.
  • The header/Footer sub-menu has been added under the configuration menu.
  • AI-generated mail can be created.
  • Can schedule the mail to send later.
  • The update Quantity option is available for products only when the tracking is given ‘By quantity.’

  • The product description can be added from the RFQ itself and it can also be edited.
  • An agreement type called purchase template has been added, which adds the pre-defined products and quantities to the RFQ.
  • The purchase alternative tab lets you add alternative requests for quotations to different vendors and make the choice from them and choose the best.

Inventory

  • The same products with different lots and serial numbers can have separate valuations using the Valuation by Lot feature.
  • The product can be stored in a sublocation having a particular category using the putaway rules.
  • Empty locations can be identified easily.
  • A smart tab called Next Transfer has been added to the transfers that show the next linked transfer.
  • Lot and serial numbers can be traced across multiple companies.

  • There is an option for Return and Exchange.
  • Users can now perform Inventory adjustments.
  • Valuation layers can be adjusted using the adjust valuation option.

Accounting

  • Follow-up reports have been moved to the partner form under the Accounting tab. Also, there is an option to send reports automatically or manually for each customer.
  • Users can now register payments on draft invoices and bills from the Action menu.
  • There is a new reconciliation model that allows the creation of customer invoices or vendor bills directly from bank transactions.
  • There is a new reconciliation model added for internal transfers.
  • A preferred way for invoice sending and e-invoice format can be chosen for customers.
  • When a payment is made, Journal entries for that payment are created only if an outstanding account has been set for the chosen payment method.
  • Customers can view their overdue amounts from their portal, and there are links in the portal and follow-up reports that allow them to make online payments of overdue balances.
  • There is an alert system that automatically identifies abnormal amounts and dates in invoices.
  • Loan management is available in Odoo 18.

  • Now the IoT box is not required to use the customer display remotely.
  • Payment methods can be modified before printing the receipt with the Edit Payment option.
  • Customers will be able to pay directly using their banking applications.

  • There is an option Course that helps to categorize the products in the order of different courses.
  • The sort-by-category option helps to sort the products based on their categories.

  • In Odoo 18, there is a burn-up chart analysis available.
  • Subtasks can be created from the Kanban cards itself.
  • There is a top bar that shows all the related details of the project for easy access to the project's record.
  • Portal users can be granted access to edit all the project tasks or the ones they follow.
  • There is a feature to schedule the tasks from the Gantt chart using Auto Plan.
  • The start and end dates of the project tasks can be easily understood from the Gantt chart, which makes it easy to understand deadlines.

Expenses

  • Employees can now specify the vendor for expenses paid by the company.
  • Expense entries are created as drafts after manager approval instead of being posted immediately.
  • Posting a miscellaneous salary entry now triggers automatic vendor bill creation, posting, and reconciliation.

Field Service

  • There is an option to Plan the services by Location.

Planning

  • Zoom-in and, zoom-out options have been added to the dashboard and dense mode can also be activated.
  • There are options to expand and collapse rows.

Timesheets

  • An option to view the weekends in the grid view has been added.

Manufacturing

  • Work-in-progress (WIP) journal entries can be posted to record the material and labor consumption in the balance sheet.
  • In the MPS, the time range can be set as yearly as well and also the number of periods can be given.
  • In the BOM overview, the availability is also based on the work center availability.
  • While manufacturing a batch, a production wizard appears from where the lot and serial numbers can be generated.

Maintainance

  • Property fields can be created for maintenance tasks.

Quality

  • Quality checks can be performed using spreadsheets.
  • In quality control points, a new control frequency type called On-demand has been added.

PLM

  • A Boolean for Update Version has been added in the form view to specify whether the version of the product and BOM will change or not.

Repair

  • Quality checks can be added to the repair order.

Shop floor

  • Log notes can be added for internal communications.

  • Add any of your pages to the new page wizard so they can be used as a template.

  • The payroll tab in the employee’s detailed view shows the payroll details of that employee.
