Journal

In Odoo, a Journal is a structured record used to categorize and log all accounting transactions systematically. Each financial transaction, whether related to sales, purchases, bank operations, or other activities, is recorded in an accounting journal before being posted to the General Ledger.

Types of Journals in Odoo

Odoo has a variety of journals, each with a distinct function:

1. Sales Journal – Records customer invoices and payments received.

2. Purchase Journal – Logs vendor bills and payments made.

3. Bank Journal – Manages bank transactions, including deposits and withdrawals.

4. Cash Journal – Tracks manual cash transactions.

5. Miscellaneous Journal – Used for adjustments, write-offs, or other financial entries that don’t fit into predefined categories.
